Disposal of electrical appliances

1. Notes on the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment and the meaning of the symbol in Annex 3 to the ElektroG:

Owners of old equipment must separate this waste from unsorted municipal waste. Waste electrical and electronic equipment must therefore not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and, in particular, must not be disposed of in the household. Rather, these old appliances must be collected separately and disposed of, for example, via the local collection and return systems.

Owners of waste equipment must also separate waste batteries and accumulators which are not enclosed by the waste equipment from it before they are handed over at a collection point.

The latter shall not apply if the old equipment is separated from other old equipment in accordance with § 14 paragraph 5 sentences 2 and 3 ElektroG within the framework of the opt-out by the public disposal vehicles for the purpose of preparing it for reuse in order to prepare it for reuse.

The symbol in Annex 3 to the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) can be used by owners to identify old equipment that has to be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life. The symbol for the separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment represents a crossed-out waste bin on the premises and is designed as follows:

2. Notes on the possibilities of administering old germs:

Owners of old equipment may dispose of such equipment within the scope of the possibilities for the return or collection of old equipment established and available by public disposal vehicles in accordance with the law, in order to ensure proper disposal of the old equipment. If necessary, it may also be possible to dispose of electrical and electronic equipment there for the purpose of reusing it. Further information can be obtained from the respective collection or collection point.
