Self-filling insulating mats

The downside of a foam camping mat is the compression of the insulating air cells, which greatly limits the warming effect. The next development is the self-inflating camping mat, made from a polyurethane foam core (PU) and an airtight casing with a lockable valve. Upon opening, the foam core expands, air escapes from the inside of the mattress, which can no longer escape after the valve is closed. The classic inflatable mattress principle. But the combination of air and foam is much better at insulating and is significantly more comfortable. Bear in mind: the thicker, the more comfortable, but also heavier and larger. Of course, there is no all-rounder, but there is a proven item for every need, which you can find using the menu on the right.
